Google likes blogs better than static sites but get more links and have plenty of great content. the static site will rank better than the blog. It just takes a little more work to compete with a blog.
8 First Step SEO Tips for Bloggers
November 18th, 2009
Mylo 1. Content is King
The quality of the posts you write is the single most important factor when it comes to Search Optimization on a Blog. I suspect others will argue differently but as I look at my own blogs success in the search engines I’d say that this has been the number one factor.
Quality content that helps people will quite often draw a reader to want to share what they’ve written – of course they do this by passing on the link to your post and often they’ll do it in a way that helps your search rankings (on their own blog for example).
2. Anticipate What People Will be Searching For
Every time you write a post you should be automatically be considering what words people might be putting into search engines to find that type of information. Once you know what kinds of words they’re using you’re in a great position to position yourself for that search. Read the rest of this entry »
Guide to Domain name analysis.
November 18th, 2009
Mylo Domain name is very crucial for any site. It’s like the identity for any site. These days due to boom in domain reselling most of the premium domain names have already been registered. Even 3-4 word domains without any meaning have been registered and are being sold for $$$.
So what are the factors that determine the price of any domain. In other words, how to analyze or appraise any domain name. One thing I make to clear before getting in deep, that domain appraisal is highly subjective. The domain name that you may think worth $1000+ may be worth $100 only in appraiser’s view. On the other hand some interested party may be willing to pay you $10000+ for same domain. In short, the price of the domain is mainly determined by the need of the person. 10 HTML Tips for Beginners
September 19th, 2009
Mylo 1. Always close your HTML tags
When you type an opening HTML tag (e.g. <b>, <p>), always place the corresponding closing tag at the end. For example:
* <b>My favourite animals are horses and elephants.</b>
* <p>My favourite animals are horses and elephants.</p>
* <h2>My favourite animals are horses and elephants.</h2>
This will ensure that your HTML pages work properly on all browsers, and will help to prevent any strange problems occurring in your pages! This is especially important with tags such as <div>, <span>, <table>, <tr> and <td>.
Some tags don’t have a corresponding closing tag – just use these tags on their own. Examples include:
* The <br> tag, for creating line breaks
* The <img> tag, for inserting images

What tips would you give to an aspiring web designer?
August 18th, 2009
Mylo I always find it to be easier when there are some good guidelines to follow to feel free to give me some tips.
Anyway, designing websites isn’t what I primarily intended to be about but then then I realized that running websites will be a lot easier if I master the design.
Like the Chinese saying goes, give the man a fish, you fed him for one night, teach him to fish, you fed him for his entire life.
Anyway, first of all, what programs are most useful? I’m guessing Adobe Flash and Photoshop are a must. Dreamweaver as well? What exactly is the difference between Dreamweaver and Fireworks? What does Illustrator do?
Also, how important exactly is coding? I know it might sound like a stupid question since it’s clearly very important but what I wanna know is how far can you get without really knowing it like the back of your hand? I understand there are a lot WYSIWYG applications these days so I figured, maybe, I will be able to do a thing or two without the great knowledge of it.
Any good online tutorials? I’ve stumbled upon some. I especially like video tutorials.
3 Smart Ranking SEO Tips You Better Be Aware Of
August 18th, 2009
Mylo The following tips are not necessarily in order of importance, but are in the order you should consider when building a new website from scratch. My top 10 tips ranked by order of importance for high rankings are displayed elsewhere.
1. Know your geographic market and ensure your domain has the correct TLD.
If your primary market is the UK it is important to use a .UK TLD and ideally have your domain hosted on UK based servers.
2. Include keyword in Domain name (using hyphens if necessary).
This doesn’t mean having a domain name like keyword-keyword-keyword-keyword.com try to stick to the one hyphen and not read as spammy. A good example is a site that sells wheelchair ramps with the URL of the site being www.wheelchair-ramps.co.uk
3. Create as much content about your products or subject as you can.
After doing this divide in to 4 or 5 sections (this will help later when creating your navigation structure)
4. AFTER you have your site content start keyword researching
There are tools you can use for keyword research; Wordtracker and The Google AdWords Keyword Tool to name but two. I personally use a combination of the Google Keyword Tool, Google LSI and T.J. Common Sense.
5. Decide on 4 or 5 primary keywords to use as main sub-sections
Ideally have an idea of 4 or 5 main keywords, call them your Primary Keywords and then try to position secondary keywords with the Primary Word most closely associated with it.
6. Sit down and sketch out your navigation system
Put a lot of time in to this and play around until it is right, use Primary Keyword as headers for 5 main Sub-sections and use secondary keywords as headers for content pages under each Primary Keyword Read the rest of this entry »
10 SEO Tips For Maximizing Facebook Visibility
July 28th, 2009
Mylo No discussion of social media’s effect on organic search results is complete without considering Facebook’s well-laid play for “search” domination, in a closed-loop-members-only end run around Google’s public algorithmic crawl.
With 250 million users, the recent purchase of friendFeed and newly offered ability to search at macro and/or granular users’ network levels, Facebook’s internal community-search platform may well threaten other search models by sheer magnitude of participation and users’ trust of their friends, extended networks and themed groups.
Why SEO for Facebook is now crucial
Whereas most SEOs think “Google” and other mainstream engines when gauging the effect social media profiles on organic SERPs, Facebook is quickly becoming a massive walled-garden parallel organic internet. Think Facebook internal search results won’t matter? Think again and start “optimizing.” Read the rest of this entry »
